Best mochiko chicken plate lunch I've had in a long time. Great food with huge portions. There is a sign posted saying they are closing for good on June 28. Sad because this place rocks.

What led me to da Hawaiian BBQ House? Da Yelp app, of course! Well......to clarify, besides Yelp, it was also my Yelp buddies - Deborah P., Gabriel P., & of course da FAMOUS Auntie - Nadine C., because after seeing their awesome food pics & reviews, I was SOLD on "Hawaiian BBQ House"!!! Over the Memorial Day weekend, I was doing a lot of yard work and had borrowed one of my friend's electric pole saw to trim down some trees. Upon returning his electric pole saw, I told him that I would like to buy him lunch, and that's how we ended up at Hawaiian BBQ House. Where is Hawaiian BBQ House located? If ya know where the Waipahu Town Center is, the Hawaiian BBQ House is located in a small strip mall just next door from the Waipahu Town Center. Easiest way to find this small strip mall is to look just behind the Waipahu McDonalds, and you will see a small strip mall just up the hill. The Hawaiian BBQ House is your typical local plate lunch joint, as this restaurant had a very extensive menu. The day I came here, I ended up getting the Garlic Chicken plate, which came with two scoops of white rice & mac salad. My friend - Nate Y. ended up getting the mini Mochiko Chicken plate with one scoop white rice & mac salad. What can I say about the grub? My Garlic Chicken plate was delicious! The chicken pieces was meaty, and the garlic marinade was garlicy good! The food portion for the regular plate was a crap-load of food.........much more than I anticipated! When I got my plate, I realized I should have ordered the mini instead. Lol! My friend Nate enjoyed his Mochiko Chicken, and when I saw his mini plate, it sorta looked like a regular plate portion. Prices for their local plate lunches were reasonable, the only negative I would say about my dining experience is the very slow service we got that day, (which made me deduct a star in this review). We came here on Memorial Day, and my friend & I were the only ones in the restaurant during lunch time. After ordering our food, I was so surprised it took so long to get our food, but maybe they were shorthanded on a holiday? Regardless, the food was great, and I guess I can say it was worth the wait, but when Bruddah man is HANGRY, no make a Bruddah wait! Lol!

Tasty food, huge portions, great prices - about sums it up. Plenty of parking in the plaza it's in and the staff were friendly and helpful. For those out of town, note that this is a fast casual type of place. There's plenty of seating inside and it's clean but there are no servers. The focus is on the food and saving you dollars from the overhead, a plus. Breakfast platter is $10 and has spam, sausage, bacon, 2 eggs, and rice. It feeds two and tasted great. Also good was the chicken katsu with curry. Curry had good taste and there was a lot of katsu; could have fed 2-3 people. This is also close (under 15mins) from the Ko Olina area so if you have a car and are staying at a place like Aulani, you'll probably actually save money over buying resort food, even with rental car fees.

Takeout Dinner from Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii... It was a Sunday... not any Sunday, but Mother's Day... a day that's known to be a busy restaurant day... We were all hungry and not wanting to cook. I searched my Yelp app for someplace nearby and found Hawaiian BBQ House. We all hadn't been, so we were ready for a new experience. Parking was free in the shared lot. I called in our order to avoid waiting. I just looked at photos and got the Hamburger Steak, Roast Pork, and Furikake Fish Filet. Our food was ready when we walked in! The gal at the counter was efficient and pleasant! The inside of the restaurant was clean and spacious. At home, everything looked and smelled delicious! My aunty thought that the Hamburger steak was too salty. My cousin didn't like the jasmine rice. I liked everything, but would like to try the Salmon with garlic butter next.

This place has some yummy Hawaiian comfort food! We ordered our meals online from their website. We easily found parking in the front. Our food was ready for pickup by the time we arrived. However, we noticed that we were missing one item which was the 2nd order of hamburger steak. Even though we did order 2 orders of the hamburger steak per our receipt, the restaurant could only see that we ordered just one on their end. So we did have to wait for about an extra 10 minutes for them to make it. The food was delicious and it is the best hamburger steak with gravy I've had by far! The rice was cooked perfectly and went well with the gravy. I loved the mac salad too. My husband said he enjoyed the salmon a lot too! Overall, I would gladly eat here again if we're ever back in the area. I just hope they can get that site glitch fixed though if it's a constant thing.

EXCELLENT CHICKEN KATSU !!! I ordered a chicken katsu and a hamburger steak plate and I was impressed with the chicken katsu. It was nice and crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. The katsu sauce was very good. The hamburger steak was pretty tasty but for me it would be perfect if it weren't so salty. The patties were handmade and there was gravy over the patties. Rice and the mac salad were very good. The wait could be long if they're busy so I would suggest ordering over the phone or online. Service was friendly and efficient.

Excellent small Hawaiian BBQ joint. The food was all prepared from scratch and very hot. I got the feeling that it was a family-owned shop that made everything with love. It was delicious. Mochiko Chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfectly spiced. The spam musubi was large, the nori with a delicious smoked flavor, and the spam was... well, spam. Delicious, salty, a bit crispy, and perfectly savory. The rice was fairly sticky, but there was a lot of it so it fell apart in clumps after the first bite. I really loved it and I will be looking for something close to it when I return home to San Diego.

Came here because I was craving some galbi and mac salad. And saw that the reviews here were pretty good, so we decided to make the drive out here from Honolulu to see what this was all about. We were immediately greeted with very friendly staff and kind service. Everyone was so nice and very helpful in helping us decide what we wanted, however, we already had an idea of what it is we wanted. The place is relatively small, but very clean. And we ended up coming at a not so busy time, so we were able to order right away. We ended up sharing the BBQ plate and I'm so glad we did because there was no way we would be finishing two separate plates. The portions were HUGE. Definitely very filling and everything was delicious and was exactly what I was looking for. The mac salad was creamy and had a bit of tang which I enjoyed. The galbi was flavorful and fatty, the steak was well seasoned, and the chicken was probably the star of the show. It was juicy and just cooked perfectly! My fiancé and I probably enjoyed the bbq chicken more than the galbi. It was a perfect blend of flavor eaten with the rice and the mac salad. Next time I come back to Hawaii, definitely keeping this place in mind and coming back!

It's getting harder now where to eat for lunch or dinner. Since we don't the use of the kitchen where we live. So my husband said let's go to a place where the highway inn was located across from don quiote in waipahu. Small strip mall like where mannys bakeshop is located, a Thai restaurant liquor store. This place is at the corner located where the old hiway Inn was. Walked in and there is alot to choose from. But the menu reminds me a L and L bbq. I ordered a mini Kalua pig with cabbage and my husband ordered orange chicken. The food to me was missing the cabbage lots of Kalua pork but I like half and half. The orange chicken he said was good looked like pandas. I said Haha. If you in the area of waipahu go and check them out.

Hawaiian BBQ House is almost a splitting image of L&L Hawaiian Hawaiian BBQ. What sets them apart is potion size, and a cleaner look than most L&L's. My wife ordered the Kalua pork and cabbage, which was on the special board. I had the Orange Chicken Both dishes were on par for this type of fast food restaurant. Enjoy.
